MISSION

HEADER

I want to see kids celebrating their freedom in spontaneous play that is not closely organized by grownups. I want Parents, teachers, and doctors to discern potential genius in the child who argues and is distracted. I emphasize the creativity of those who are super-energized and respect children who are different, peculiar or eccentric.

Picture this:

  • Parents spending more time with their kids
  • An end to behavior-modifying drugs for children
  • Kids in kindergarten just playing
  • No homework in the primary grades
  • Not basing school funding on test scores

These visions aren't unrealistic. They do, however, require a cultural transformation. Grownups need to realize the value of play and leisure time. We need to relax those high expectations and the stress that goes with pushing children too hard. While it may seem counterintuitive, these are the very changes that will enhance children's long-term success!
